Fat-dissolving injections
Fat-dissolving injections are considered for localised areas of fat, such as the jawline or a double chin. Sagging, swelling, muscle or bone structure may call for a different treatment, so the cause is checked at consultation. Treatment is performed by a doctor.
Fat-dissolving injections are considered for localised fullness caused by fat. They are not a weight-loss treatment, and results vary between individuals. At DMTC, fat-dissolving injections are performed by a doctor.
A concern does not automatically make this treatment suitable. A doctor checks whether the fullness is caused by fat, sagging or bone structure, and may suggest another option or no treatment.

The doctor decides the amount for each session based on the area and examination. We recommend four or more sessions, spaced two weeks to one month apart.
If you agree to the plan and cost, the doctor performs the injections. Changes are usually reviewed about one month later.

The treatment takes about 30 minutes. Swelling, redness, warmth, tightness or bruising may last from a few days to about a week, and sometimes longer.
Pain, redness, swelling, bruising, warmth and tightness can occur at the injection site. Lumps or firmness may persist, and infection, scarring or irregularities of the skin may occur. For another product with the same main ingredient (deoxycholic acid), the US authority added warnings about nerve or muscle problems and long-lasting lumps when used outside the area under the chin. These are not results for Deolipo itself, but the area and amount are decided carefully at consultation.
People who are allergic to the product cannot receive this treatment. Tell the doctor about pregnancy or breastfeeding, allergies, medication, infection or inflammation at the planned area, medical conditions and previous injections.
This is a self-funded treatment and is not covered by public health insurance. Deolipo is a medicine that is not approved in Japan. It contains 0.5% deoxycholic acid as its main ingredient, with L-carnitine and artichoke extract.
How it is obtained: each clinic's doctor imports it personally through an import agent (VALIQUE).
Approved alternatives in Japan: there is no fat-dissolving injection containing deoxycholic acid as its main ingredient that is approved in Japan.
Overseas safety information: another product with the same main ingredient (such as Kybella) is approved in the United States for fat under the chin in adults. Deolipo itself is not approved there. The US authority has warned that infection, scarring and skin deformity have been reported with unapproved fat-dissolving injections.
Relief system: because it is an unapproved medicine, serious side effects are not covered by Japan's Relief System for Sufferers from Adverse Drug Reactions.
These sources provide general safety information. Overseas approval is not equivalent to Japanese approval.

No. This is not a weight-loss treatment. It is considered for localised fullness caused by fat in the injected area.
If a wide jaw is caused by muscle, botulinum toxin may be considered; if it is caused by fat, fat-dissolving injections may be considered. The causes can overlap, so the doctor checks at consultation.
